BREAM HISTORY MADE WITH SECOND TWENTY

Suffolk angler James Crameri the first angler to record two slabs over the 20lb mark

-

James Crameri, 21lb 12oz bream, southern gravel pit LATE spring is the best time of the year to catch specimen bream, and James Crameri proved exactly why when he became the first angler to catch two different 20lb-plus specimens topped by this monster of 21lb 12oz.

The Suffolk angler targeted a low-stock southern gravel pit for a two-night session, and began by baiting a silty gulley at 80 yards with 4kg of mixed particles including sweetcorn, casters, pellets and maggots.

James got the all-important bite on the second night of his trip, as he explained to Angling Times.

“At about 7.45pm a friend popped into the swim for a chat and about 15 minutes later the bobbin rose on the right-hand rod and then slowly started to drop back. I struck immediately, connected with a heavy fish, and began coaxing it back towards me.

“Seeing the sheer size of the bream in the landing net I knew I’d got something truly special. To have now caught two different bream over the 20lb mark is mind-blowing.”
