LAST CAST RESULTS IN NEW ITCHEN RECORD BARBEL
‘Give it 15 minutes’ and out comes 17lb 3oz fish

IT’S incredible how many big fish get caught on the ‘last cast’, and that was the case with Lee Noakes when he caught a record-breaking barbel from the River Itchen in the final few days of the river season in March.
The impressive fish weighed 17lb 3oz and was taken on maggot feeder tactics from a stretch on the lower river. It also set a new personal best for Lee (52), whose session produced
another barbel of 11lb 3oz.
“The friend I was fishing with said he was ready to go, but I told him ‘just give it 15 more minutes’. Before he had sat down, my rod arched over and I was in! After weighing the fish we packed up and headed to the pub to celebrate!” said Lee.
