FIVE BARBEL DOUBLES FOR TOP CARPER LEWIS PORTER
BIG-FISH ace Lewis Porter tasked himself with banking a doublefigure barbel before Christmas – which he did with the capture of no fewer than five, topped by this 15lb 12oz beauty.
The Fox marketing manager made Angling Times headlines at the end of November with the capture of a 30lb-plus pike, but then he switched his attentions to the Trent’s barbel.
Fishing a 24-hour session on an upper stretch of the waterway, Lewis hooked the 15lb 12oz monster alongside other doubles of 14lb 6oz, 13lb 2oz, 10lb 9oz and 10lb 6oz using 15mm Mainline Link boilies wrapped in matching paste.
He told Angling Times: “My next target is to catch a double-figure zander before Christmas!”
Lewis’ set-up included 6oz Kling On leads fished on Edges Angled Drop Off Run Rig Kits, alongside 12lb Illusion Trans Khaki fluorocarbon hooklinks with size 8 Wide Gape Stiff Rig hooks.
