DISABLED-FRIENDLY FISH O’? BRING IT ON

I RECKON a women-only qualifier for Fish O’Mania is a brilliant idea. I wish it had been a potential 120-pegger because that would have removed many of those who said it isn’t fair from the moaning brigade.

It’s not really that important because you still need to win and that means the same combination of right angler in the right peg, whether it’s five or 500 pegs. The winning peg will still be drawn at random.

Angling is the most genderinclusive sport imaginable, and now Matchroom is working with the Angling Trust and fisheries to produce enough pegs for anglers with disabilities to take part. Sometimes the word ‘disabled’ suggests a wheelchair but there are many far less visible types of disability. These will also be taken into account.
