Angling Times (UK) - - ULTIMATE GUIDE TO 2019 -

SPLIT-cane rods, centrepin reels and ‘retro’ floats are just a few examples of the items of antique fishing tackle that are used by the country’s hordes of ‘old school’ enthusiasts.

While these bits of kit won’t catch you any more fish than regular, modern tackle items, they can readily add an extra hit of enjoyment to a day’s fishing… after all, there’s nothing like the excitement (or indeed fear) of hooking a big fish on a rod that’s older than you are!

Antique tackle items can be found by searching online on forums or auction sites such as eBay, or by checking out local auctions. As well as helping to add interest to your fishing, they can also prove a wise investment. Get out there and track down a bargain vintage tackle item!

Chris Yates, a huge fan of vintage tackle.
