Angling Times (UK) - - ULTIMATE GUIDE TO 2019 -

CRUCIAN carp are one of our most attractive species, yet they are becoming increasingly rare as specimen carp fishing grows in popularity and pure-bred crucians are hybridising with their bigger cousins.

Over the last few years the Angling Trust has run the Catch a Crucian competition, where awards are presented for a variety of crucian-related images.

Last year awards were given for the best overall crucian photo, the best picture of a junior with a crucian, and the best scenic picture.

So, make sure you devote a few days to targeting crucians in spring and summer – they’re a fantastic species to target while the weather is at its best, and can provide electric sport.
