Agency is ‘unfit to carry out survey on future of fishing’

Angling Times (UK) - - YOUR FISHING WEEKS -

REGARDING the call from Angling Times for readers to fill in the Environment Agency online survey about the future of fishing (December 4 issue), I think this organisation is not fit for this purpose. It should be conducted through a more reliable outlet, such as the angling press. Forms could also be sent to tackle shops and it should be made available on an independent website.

I recently received the survey via my Gmail address and tried – and failed – to fill it in three times, thwarted every time when the last part of the survey asked for my email address, only to be told it was not correct.

How the EA contacted me, therefore, remains a mystery.

Similarly, for the last two years I have been denied a rod licence via the internet because the EA refused the payment, explaining later (on my enquiry) that it must be my fault. Thank goodness for the good old Post Office. M Dashwood, Bedford
