Octbox’s stunning new box and powered barrow combination makes match fishing a whole lot easier
Octbox MK18 D25 Two Drawer Seatbox & Lithium Powered Wheel Kit
RRP: £1,095
A BARROW system is becoming more of a necessity for anglers, given the amount of tackle we take with us.
Forward-thinking seatbox company Octbox has just the solution with its stunning new box and electric barrow system.
When built up into the full package you get a best-selling twodrawer MK18 D25 seatbox and a powerful barrow system that uses a lithium battery and takes all the hassle out of wrestling a standard barrow across mud, slopes and uneven ground – just turn the barrow on, adjust the throttle and away you go.
Breaking the system down, you essentially have the main box, a set of rear wheels and heightadjustable handles that house the throttle and on/off switch, and the front module where you find that motorised wheel kit, gearbox, battery and set of wheels.
It all fits together in a matter of minutes and packs a 60:1 gear ratio, which in layman’s terms means a powerful beast to transport a mass of tackle with the minimum of fuss when combined with the high grip 41cm diameter wheels. There’s also plenty of ground clearance to send the barrow smoothly across long grass or uneven ground. The wheels can be slotted on and off thanks to the quick-release system and the 12V battery is rechargeable (charger included).
Moving on to the seatbox itself, the D25 is the basic configuration with two side drawers, padded pole seat and a fully heightadjustable frame to get the right level no matter how tall or short you are. It’s rock solid, too, tested to take a massive amount of weight. Stability is assured with the metal-spiked foot on each leg
that grips the terrain like a vice.
The footplate features a quicklock system for total reliability when stood up and has Octbox’s smart keepnet adaptor system built in, allowing up to three nets to be fitted in seconds without the need for additional arms or adaptor bars.
When fully assembled and extended, there’s enough space to slot carryalls, clothing, bait bags, net bags and buckets on to the trolley, meaning you’re all loaded up and ready to go. Just turn the barrow on, set the pace and off you trundle.
