WOULD I BE WELCOME?

I’VE been a lifelong sea angler, but decided to take up freshwater fishing in August 2018. I’ve always enjoyed fishing on my own, but I joined my local club and got access to their lakes. Since then, I’ve had success fishing for carp, having caught fish to 28lb 8oz.

After reading your Where to Fish, I decided that it would be nice to travel to one of the ‘big fish’ venues. My worry is, how well would the owners react to somebody like me, a beginner with second-hand equipment and not knowing the rules?

Fishery rules are normally easy to find at the onsite tackle shop or club house. Most clubs organise regular open matches – a great way of meeting new people… Ed
