Match Pool at Heronbrook

PLENTY of commercials boast of holding carp well into double figures, but not all of them seem capable of producing the goods.

This is because these big fish are often present in very small numbers, outnumbered on a giant scale by smaller samples that beat them to the hookbait time and time again.

But this certainly isn’t the case on the Match Lake at Heronbrook Fisheries where 10lb-20lb mirrors and commons are reported almost every day.

Although the pool’s name suggests it’s reserved for competitions, it is open to pleasure anglers too, and those who have wet a line in recent weeks have slipped the net under some stunning personal best specimens.
