Feed live maggots but use a single dead on the hook. It’s softer and more attractive.

FISH WITH SLOP

Kick off with half a large pole cup of sloppy black Dynamite Milled Expander groundbait.

LIGHT HOLLOW ELASTIC

A 4-6 Reactacore elastic won’t bring fish splashing up to the surface, scaring the shoal.

THREE FEEDS PER POT

Drip maggots into the swim with a small lidded pot three or four times for every fill.

A PINCH OF MAGGOTS

Half-a-dozen maggots at a time is ample – you can always up this if the fishing improves.

A DELICATE FLOAT

In 2ft 6ins of water use a 4x10 or 4x12 slim-bodied float. A 4x14 is better in deeper swims.
