BE WELL PREPARED

WEIR pools can be unforgiving on tackle. As well as stronger flows and undercurrents, many contain submerged snags that have been washed downriver, so beef up your tackle to cope. If you normally use a 6lb mainline to leger, up it to 8lb.

Remember, no fish is worth risking your life for, so never get into the water to retrieve a lost item of tackle or to land a fish. Safety first!
