FINALLY,THINGS ARE STARTING TO LOOK UP...

-

THERE’S a certain feeling of anticipation in the air. With restrictions slowly easing and a roadmap out of our current situation in place, it won’t be long until carpers across the country can get the camping kit out and have a good old night on the bank.

The last few months have been hard for us carp hunters – the weather has been atrocious, and the restrictions have just added to the torment. This month’s Carpfeed is all about looking forward to one of the best carping seasons – spring. It’s a time when the carp are fully awakened from their winter slumber. It’s warmer, the days are longer, and the fish are willing to oblige.

Two important factors come into play when catching carp consistently – bait and rigs. This month we have two experts in their craft delving deep on both topics.

Mark Holmes and bait go hand in hand, and his knowledge of what makes carp tick is second-to-none. In his feature this month he discloses the ingredients that will have the fish in your lake tearing up the bottom this spring.

When it comes to catching them, though, the hook end is vital. For his Big Carp Edges piece this issue, Adam Penning discusses the key elements when it comes to rig making. His findings may surprise you, because he rarely changes tack from his tried and tested formula.

If you’re heading out on the bank in search of carp this month, hopefully there is something in the next few pages that can give you that edge.

Most of all, however, just remember to enjoy it. They don’t all have to be monsters to make you smile... mind you, it’s nice when they are!
