DAIWA GORDON LEAGUE GLOUCESTER CANAL SPRING LEAGUE (SUN)

Gloucester Canal, Gloucester Slimbridge (140 pegs)

-

THE FINAL leg of this big spring series saw the venue burst into life, with bream and skimmers showing and double figures needed to win every section.

The team race saw local lads Daiwa Gordon League Black finish as champions by a good margin, their 235-point tally putting them 39 clear of Sensas

Lobby’s Tackle Red. Preston Innovations Thatcher’s took third on 193. The final leg honours went to the Lobby’s Lads on 59 points, Gordon League ending up second to confirm their overall win.

For good measure they also had the day’s individual winner in Mark Brush.

He returned a fine 36-13-0 of bream and skimmers from the Castle section, using groundbait feeder tactics and worm or red maggot on the hook to land fish to 5lb.

Runner-up Paul Kaye also broke the 30lb mark with 31-10-0 of bream and skimmers from peg 456 at Pegthorne Bay. The feeder with worm and maggot again did the damage to put the Team Hereford man over 3lb in front of third-placed Sam Johnson on 28-2-0.
