WHERE TO FISH EASTER SPECIAL

-

2-FOR-1 DAY TICKETS PACKINGTON SOMERS, MERIDEN, WEST MIDLANDS

This well-established and popular fishery has over 120 pegs available for pleasure fishing on both days of the Bank Holiday weekend. Fishery manager John Burchall advises heading for the smaller pools such as Reedy Bay, First Bay and Siblings for plenty of bites. Maggots on light rigs will see your guests catching a bit of everything, but a switch to pellets or corn should see some nice F1 carp in the net.

Price: Day tickets start at £8. To take advantage of the free ticket offer, present this copy of AT More info: 01676 523833/ www.packingtonestate.co.uk

WHETSTONE GORSE, COUNTESTHORPE, LEICS

Moorhen Pool in particular has a big stock of pristine rudd to go at, plus other colourful species such as crucians. What’s more, if you fish close to the margins – whether with pole, waggler or feeder – there’s always the chance of a decent carp or two to round the day off nicely. Price: Day tickets £10.

Alternatively, try the two-acre Ribbon Lake, which has lots of barbel and chub (to 6lb) to target, plus tench, golden tench, crucians, bream and perch. You’ll find five well-stocked, mature lakes here, all set in a lush landscape just three miles from the lovely market town of Ludlow. A peaceful, 24-acre venue set in the idyllic Somerset countryside that has a five-peg canal-shaped lake, Dennys, dedicated solely to junior anglers that is full of small carp and silverfish to keep the kids well entertained. The 14-peg Willow Pool is similarly stocked, although it also holds good perch. These fish, like the other species present here, will respond well to a margin fishing approach. KIDS FISH FREE! KIPPAX PARK, LEEDS, WEST YORKSHIRE

We’ve heard on the grapevine that the venue’s Osprey Pool has recently reopened after repair work and has been stocked with lots of small carp. This is a 30-peg snake lake, and the best ploy is simply to fish pellets or maggots a rodlength or so out. There are bites galore to be had from this great little lake which, because of its shape, is easy for newcomers or juniors to get to grips with.

Price: Juniors can fish for free with full paying adult (£6) if they take along this copy of AT
