A Slick Revolution
Oil & gas has long been one of Papua New Guinea’s primary economic frontiers, with the likes of INTEROIL and High Arctic Energy Services having been profiled in Asia Outlook in recent years. Another old friend to once again grace the publication this year is Puma Energy, whose downstream capabilities have paved the way for a whole host of opportunities across the country’s challenging terrain.
Leveraging the wider Group’s global strategy, the business has formulated a very localised approach to progress in PNG and as such is not only boosting its own market credentials but is helping to foster enhanced socioeconomic development for the communities around it as well.
“As the country goes through its next expansion phase, the increase in refinery capacity will allow us to keep pace with market requirements for many years to come. Phoenix Petroleum is enjoying a very similar experience in the Philippines at present as it looks to similarly ingratiate itself locally, in order to challenge the established industry elite. I end my tenure here by exploring Malaysia’s diverse business travel appeal, and it would be wise to stay tuned in the months to come as the publication’s business travel segment gets ramped up a couple of notches; The Solomon Islands, Nepal, Bali, Hyderabad and the Philippines all waiting in the wings.
