5G is on the march. From linking home appliances and smartphones to powering connectivity in underground mines, the use cases for the fifth generation of cellular communications are almost never-ending.
Networks are being rolled out in countries all over the world, including some of the poorer nations for which this represents a major opportunity to fast-track into modern economies. In Cambodia, for example, leading telco Cellcard is planning to launch its own 5G network across the country in Q2 of 2019.
Speaking to Jonathan Dyble a year on from his previous interview with the magazine, CEO Ian Watson fills us in on the Company’s progress and gives his thoughts on all things 5G.
“For us, 5G is not about having faster speeds,” he says. “That’s a given. Instead we want to change people’s perceptions about what a network can deliver. There have been numerous challenges, but the transformative effects of 5G for both our business and customers will be equally rewarding.”
