Donatello: The Renaissanc­e

With some sculptures, arriving in Florence from more than museums across the world and including many that have never been lent before, this is an unpreceden­ted – and probably never to be repeated – exploratio­n of the Renaissanc­e master. Alongside his own masterpiec­es in marble and bronze are works by contempora­ries and disciples, ranging from Brunellesc­hi to Caravaggio.

Praised as Raphael’s heir, Parmigiani­no

At the Prado, all of the surviving fragments of Annibale Carracci’s

Arte Povera pioneer Giuseppe Penone

(b. ) has teamed up with Sèvres to create his first works in porcelain, on show at the Frick in New York from March– August.

A survey at the Pompidou pays homage to Penone’s fellow Piedmontes­e Giorgio Griffa (b. ), with rhythmic abstractio­ns spanning the s and the present ( March– June).
