Childcare Choices – Early Learning & Childcare places
Our school is committed to providing appropriate opportunities for the development of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural values through both the ethos and the curriculum. This is undertaken in partnership with parents and takes account of the individual needs of pupils and the views of parents.
Tarbert Academy barly ievel Class
Tarbert Academy Early Level Class was set up in August 2014 and is thriving as an engaging environment that supports the learning and development of all children from 3-6 years old. The class is going from strength to strength; this year becoming a finalist for a merit award for ‘quality improvement in early years’. Set in a purpose-built classroom within the Primary department of a successful 3-18 school, the Early Level Class is a place where children are active participants in learning and play is valued as ‘a child’s work’. The Early Level learning environment encompasses both indoor and outdoor areas, which are carefully planned and designed with the child’s needs and interests at the its heart. The setting is designed to both support and challenge, with experienced and committed practitioners working together to ensure all children are meeting their developmental milestones and are engaged in learning. Our staff value the importance of knowing each child as an individual, ensuring the environment allows children to express their wants, needs and interests. Tarbert Academy aims for transition throughout the 3-18 school to be as smooth as possible, with experiences in the Early Level Class allowing preschoolers to work in close partnership with Primary Ones who can model and scaffold learning for their younger peers.
