Love is in the air . . .
Lochgilphead MS Centre staff are sharing the love as Valentine’s Day approaches. Just in for a loaf of bread, Sandy MacDonald was surprised to leave Lochgilphead Co-op with a rose, courtesy of Claire Cameron and Karen McCurry.
INSPIRED by a widower in Dumbarton, staff from the Multiple Sclerosis Centre Argyll have been ‘sharing their love’.
After hearing about Stuart McWilliam, a widower who hands out a rose a day in memory of his wife, MS centre staff were moved to do some- thing similar and hand out roses to unsuspecting Argyll residents.
Centre manager Karen McCurry said: ‘We’ve been giving some randomly to people we felt looked like a rose would cheer them up, others to people we knew were not feeling well and a couple as a thank you to people who support us.’
As part of the 52 Weeks of Kindness Campaign - a mental health initiative encouraging people to carry out acts of kindness throughout the year - staff will be giving out roses throughout February.
On Monday January 6, Karen McCurry and Claire Cameron caught some Lochgilphead Co-op customers - and a guide dog - off guard, handing them a rose as they left the shop.
Some were visibly touched by this simple act and Claire commented: ‘It is amazing to see people’s reactions. It’s such a simple thing we are doing but to get such a positive response from people and to just see them smile feels great.’
