Are you tough enough to walk up to 100kms to help children’s hospice charity?
IF TREKKING up to 100kms in temperatures as low as -30°C, dragging your equipment behind you in a pulk and sleeping in tents in the Arctic Circle sounds ‘cool’ to you, the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) has the perfect challenge.
The charity has teamed up with experienced events company Breaking Strain to provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for budding adventurers to raise funds to help CHAS provide vital hospice care services for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
In addition to the tougher side of the challenge, you will be able to tick off a few bucket list items; see some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery and glistening snowdrifts, spend a night in the Arctic Snow Hotel, you may see the most incredible northern lights and you may even get to meet Santa Claus when you visit the Finnish town of Rovaniemi - his official home town that celebrates Christmas every day of the year.
Outdoor events co-ordinator for CHAS Scott Maxwell said: ‘How many people do you know who can say they’ve conquered the Arctic? This really is a unique challenge and such a brave and inspiring way to raise money for CHAS. Your cold feet, but warm heart, will allow us to help make every moment matter for families with a very sick child.’
The Arctic challenge will take place in February 2018 and participants must raise a minimum of £3,500 for CHAS. A self-funded trip with no minimum sponsorship is also available. For further information on the trek and for application forms, contact teamCHAS@chas.org.uk. The deadline for entries is Friday March 31.
