Fundraising for trip of a lifetime

-

THE TROPICS of Latin America may seem like a far cry from the wilds of Argyll to most people, but its something that Tayvallich teenager, Finley Moody, will have to get used to.

Come August, the 17-year-old, right, will be swapping the Taynish Peninsula for the Amazonian rainforest as he ventures off to Guyana for a year-long trip.

As part of Project Trust, Finley will be teaching maths and science to locals in the heart of the Guayanese rainforest – an area that is undergoing rapid economic and industrial expansion.

To ensure that he secures his place on this trip of a lifetime, Finley needs to raise a total of £6,200, a target set by and in aid of Project Trust.

Donations

To reach this target, Finley has been running a series of fundraising events and is looking for all the help he can get, be it through donations or simply helping out.

Finley is currently organising a fundraising ceilidh at the end of the month in Tayvallich Village Hall on Saturday June 24 at 7.30pm.

Oban band, Turas, will be on hand to provide the tunes, while an offering of refreshments and a BYOB policy will make for a lively atmosphere.

Finley welcomes any advice, help or donations which can be made by searching Finley Moody on uk.virginmoneygiving.com or through Project Trust.
