Thought for the Week
I’VE JUST been given a new Kindle Fire tablet and I’m thrilled with it.
My old one was getting very slow and kept ‘freezing’, and I became more and more frustrated with it.
I was dreading the change over and hoped I would remember all my relevant usernames and passwords.
To my joy and amazement, the new Kindle knew who I was and transferred all my information from my old device to my new one in a matter of minutes.
Soon all my favourites were up and running and I was delighted.
Technology often baffles me. So when it works, not only am I pleased, I also feel a great sense of achievement.
I have the option to store things on ‘my cloud’ – wherever that is.
However, I am assured that it will keep my information safe.
In days gone by, people thought of God being up in the clouds keeping things safe.
We know now that God is not in the clouds but is within us and around us, and wherever heaven is, he is there too.
I thought of how God has all the information on each one of us stored away.
He doesn’t need a computer to find out about us from Google, for he has known each one of us since we were babes in our mothers’ wombs.
He has followed our every footstep, every heartbeat, every breath and has our names written on the palm of his hand.
In this world of turmoil and uncertainty, God is the one who is constant, the one who keeps all his promises, the one whose manifesto of love and care doesn’t change.
God is the certainty in this and every age.
