Trophy night
TARBERT Football Club’s annual trophy night lifted the spirits of players after a disappointing 2016/17 season for the team.
The club held their annual dinner and trophy presentation night at the Islay Frigate Hotel in Tarbert on Saturday night with some top prizes up for grabs.
Although the club had little to celebrate, the dinner was well attended and showed that there’s reason to be optimistic for the Dookers.
Treasurer Margaret MacNeill thanked all the officials for the hard work put into running the club. Also thanked were Zena for taking charge of changing rooms duties and Gail for running the lottery. Jonathon Scott spoke for the club and encouraged the players to keep training and hopefully the Tarbert club will return to winning ways next season. Jonathon also thanked Margaret for her help with the club.
Club president Eric MacDougall took the prize-giving responsibilities, presenting the following trophies.
Young player of the year: Finn Scott.
Miss of the season: Jason Macarthur.
Goal of the season: Nicky MacDougall.
Top goal scorer: Nicky MacDougall.
Referees’ player: David Ronald. Players’ player: Fraser Talbot. The club would like to thank Prentice Seafoods for their continued sponsorship and to all who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, including Margaret MacNeill, Zena Hawthorn, Eric MacDougall, manager James Prentice and coach Jonathon Scott.
