Red Star 2007s conquer 9-a-side festival

Argyllshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

Lochgilphead Red Star 2007s and 2004s were both in action on Sunday September 16.

The 2007s, to help with their step up to 11-aside in August 2019, had arranged a nine-aside festival with Campbeltown, Fort William and Oban.

Showing great attitude and effort and demonstrating real progress, the team from Lochgilphead won all three of their games beating Fort William, Campbeltown and Oban in a fantastic morning of football. Appreciated

Great displays all round from the Lochgilphead boys and a great effort from the other teams was much appreciated.

The Red Star 2004s welcomed Ferguslie Star Youths to the astro and ran out convincing winners to book a place in the second round of the Scottish Cup. Nice football

In the first half some nice football had Star leading 3-0 at half time with goals from McMurchy, Cameron and McLean.

Further goals followed in the second half with Harris, Caskie, McMurchy and Green adding to the score.

Ferguslie Star never gave up and pulled back two goals with the game ending 7-2 for the Lochgilphead youngsters.

Renfrew FC Blues will be their opponents in the second round which will take place on Sunday September 30.
