Ar­gyll MP meets Holo­caust sur­vivor

At the launch of Holo­caust Memo­rial Day 2019, Ar­gyll and Bute MP Bren­dan O’Hara lis­tened to Joan Sal­ter MBE, a sur­vivor of the Holo­caust, de­scribe how at the age of three she was forced to flee from Europe and travel to Amer­ica in 1943 with­out her par­ents.

Holo­caust Memo­rial Day, the theme for which in 2019 is ‘Torn from home’, is held on Jan­uary 27 each year and re­mem­bers the six mil­lion Jews mur­dered dur­ing the Holo­caust and the mil­lions killed un­der Nazi per­se­cu­tion. The date marks the an­niver­sary of the lib­er­a­tion of Auschwitz-Birke­nau.
