Annual presentation at Lochgilphead Golf Club
Last Friday November 2 saw the winners of the 2018 season turn out to be presented with their trophies at the annual prize giving.
In the absence of captain David Sinclair, who was last heard of in Rome, ladies’ captain Ele Hunter introduced the evening by welcoming everyone and thanking them all for attending. The numbers attending were small but focused on quality, not quantity.
Following the presentation the members and guests enjoyed a sumptuous buffet provided by Ele, Morvern Murray and Kirsty Flanagan, whose homemade desserts were to die for.
Trophies were presented on the night to: Ele Hunter - Charity Cup, Eclectic Cup, Senior Open Quaich, and the April and August medals. Donna McKellar - Winter League Trophy and May Medal. Grant McDougall - Booker Trophy. Keith Cowan - Marie Curie Medal, John Paterson Trophy and the Jubilee Plate. Douglas Whyte – Ann Williams Shield and Mid week challenge. George J Morrison – Kilcolm Cup. Adrian Angus – Scratch Open Trophy and McKenzie pairs. Jim Hunter – Senior Open Trophy and Burgh Cup. George Morrison – Centenary Cup and RNLI. Ryan McGlynn – Charity Cup.
Sunday saw the ladies take to the course for the second week of their winter league. The sun was shining and the course was in excellent condition.
This week’s winner was Kirsty Flanagan with 16 points, who was also responsible for providing the soup for this week which was enjoyed by all.
It is hoped the weather continues to play ball on Sundays as, although they are prepared to play in inclement weather, it is so much more pleasant to hit a wee ball about in sunshine.
