Lochgilphead’s Dochas Centre shares eye-opening carers’ information
The Dochas centre held an eye-opening gathering on Friday November 30.
In their information cafe, the ladies of the Dochas centre educated incomers to the reality of being a carer, and even the idea that you could be a carer.
‘This is not only for people who come forward as a carer,’ Catherine Paterson said of a figure of 160,000 carers a year.
‘People come in and say “I’m not a carer but I’m interested” and I’ve had to tell people, yes they are.’
Doris Linstead handed out a questionnaire was with enlightening statistics on caring, including the shocking amount of young carers, and how many hours they dedicate to caring, with visitors found to be astounded by the statistics.
