Clock is ticking for candidates to join Argyll NHS board
January 11 is the deadline to apply to become an NHS Highland board member representing Argyll and Bute.
NHS Highland is looking for two new members to join its board to represent the public and hold the board to account for delivery of local health services.
The non-executive members will be expected to play a central role in guiding strategies which address the health and adult social care needs of the resident population and monitor the performance of the board in delivering these.
Appointments will be for up to four years, with the possibility of re-appointment.
The role of a non-executive takes up, on average, eight hours a week – in exchange for £8,416 a year plus reasonable travel and subsistence costs, dependant-carer expenses and support required to help them carry out their duties effectively. The successful applicants will be offered any training they will need to be successful in the role.
The board is keen to maintain a geographical balance in membership and someone who lives or works in the Argyll and Bute area is being sought to participate immediately as a member of the Argyll and Bute Integrated Joint Board.
David Alston, chairman of NHS Highland, said: ‘The NHS has an impact on everyone’s life at one time or another and this could be your chance to get involved in improving, sustaining and protecting the health of the local population.
‘If you feel you have something to offer, we would like to hear from you.’
Anyone interested in applying should visit the dedicated public appointments website – www.appointed-for-scotland.org – or call 0300 244 1898.
The closing date for applications is January 11.
