Lochgilphead Joint Campus hosted businesses from across Argyll on Tuesday March 5 to get students thinking about their future.
The hall was full of stalls giving out information on how young people can get involved and what the work entails. Students heard the highs and lows as they browsed stalls from businesses including Kilmartin Museum, CITB scaffolding, Inveraray Castle Gardens, Ardfern Yacht Club and Macleod Construction.
Jobs in retail, archaeology, education, horticulture, curation, tourism, sailing, emergency services and construction were all on show as well as further education and apprenticeships.
Joint Campus student Rhona Love said: ‘It was useful to see the different opportunities Argyll has to offer, especially as we’re trying to get young people to move and stay here. It was also useful to talk to people who work for the companies and see what they actually do and what they think of their job.’
Some students showed an enterprising streak in the hall. Caitlin MacDonald, Sioned Phillips, Chloe MacKinnon and Ben Smith of the Young Enterprise team within Lochgilphead Joint Campus sold their Gulp personalised water bottles in an attempt to discourage single-use plastic and promote drinking water. At another table, Jessica Tanner and Beth Johnson sold bath bombs.
