Now in its fourth year, organisers behind the popular event are readying themselves for the big night which will take place on
Saturday October 17. Entry is now open and any original acts are encouraged to get their applications in quick to be considered to perform on the Craignish Village Hall stage as part of this special showcase.
All genres of music are welcomed, from rap to rock, pop, traditional, funk and everything in between. Soloists and all sizes of bands will be considered.
This year the MOJO team have set the following criteria for entry:
❚Your music must be original – no covers.
❚You can perform a 30-40 minute set of your own music.
❚You are from, or have strong connections with, Argyll.
❚You or your band are aged 16 and over.
To apply, musicians are asked to send a short description of their music accompanied with a demo – video, EP, Soundcloud, Youtube, etc. are all accepted – to the MOJO Argyll Facebook page. Previous MOJO artists can re-apply, provided it is with new material. Submissions close on Thursday June 25.
MOJO is a non-charitable, non-funded and not-for-profit volunteer venture. All proceeds from the bar and ticket sales, once show costs are deducted, are split between the evening’s performers.
MOJO organiser Dan Sloan-Griffiths said: ‘We can’t wait for more MOJO. There is such a kick to the night, with so many talented local musicians playing their hearts out to an audience well up for it. It has such a lasting effect for everybody there.
‘This year we have lowered the entry age to 16 to include, we hope, a lot more new blood to the stage.’
