A beacon of musical light for 2021
Mark it in your diary as something to look forward to next spring.
A date has been set for Argyll’s next fabulous festival of original music - MOJO 2021.
This weekend would have seen the 2020 MOJO festival at Craignish Village Hall but in common with other social occasions the organisers were forced to cancel due to the coronavirus pandemic
Earlier this week, however, the event’s founder revealed a date has been set for the next MOJO musical extravaganza - Saturday May 15 2021 - pandemic permitting.
Dan Sloan-Griffiths said: ‘Hopefully this will give music fans something to look forward to. We are still very active and keen for musicians to send in their demos.
‘There has been a lot of interest from artists interested in taking part, which is brilliant.’
Artists and bands with Argyll connections - of any musical flavour - are wanted to showcase their talent next spring.
The basic critera for demo submissions are:
❚ Your music must be original - no covers
❚ You can perform a 30-40 minute set of your own music ❚ You are from, or have strong connections with, Argyll ❚ You or your band are aged 16 and over
To apply, musicians should send a short description of their music accompanied by a demo - video, EP, Soundcloud, Youtube, are all accepted - to the MOJO Argyll Facebook page.
Previous MOJO artists can re-apply, provided it is with new material.
In tribute to what would have been the fourth MOJO festival this weekend, keep an eye out for MOJO Memories on the MOJO Argyll Facebook page, featuring fantastic photographs and videos from MOJO festivals in years gone by.
Dan added: ‘We look forward to being able to see and hear all our brilliant performers again. Until we see you all again, be smart, stay safe and stay tuned.’
MOJO is a non-charitable, non-funded and not-forprofit volunteer venture. All proceeds from the bar and ticket sales, once show costs are deducted, are split between the evening’s performers.
