Water walkers’ cash splash

-

Walkers, cyclists and drivers offered plenty of support to water-carrying Virtual Kiltwalk fundraisers from Kilmartin, Ford and Glassary church.

By way of carrying water on a relay system from the loch at Barnluasgan to the church in Kilmartin, the aim was to raise money for Christian Aid towards small scale, low cost solutions to communities effected by climate change.

The hardy team of water walkers set off on their 10km (six-mile) trek at lunchtime on Sunday April 25, raising awareness of the climate change crisis as well as cash along the way.

Church treasurer Caroline Waterhouse said: ‘We raised a grand total of £1,107.37, inclusive of gift aid and the Hunter Foundation’s generous 50 per cent top-up to any sponsorship raised.

‘Thanks to all who participated and helped on the day – and to everyone who offered support to our walkers along the road.’
