Possible vote fraud probed by police
An investigation was sparked after a rare case of potential voting fraud turned up at a Cowal polling station.
Police Scotland has confirmed that officers received a report of possible voter impersonation which occurred at a polling station in Uig Hall, near Dunoon, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
An Argyll and Bute Council spokesperson said: ‘On Thursday May 6 trained staff in one polling station identified an isolated, potential case of voter impersonation. In line with Electoral Commission procedures we advised election candidates and agents during the count and have reported this to Police Scotland.’
