WOMEN WHO MAKE IT WORK
Islay-based Stefanie Griffiths has extended her Slimming World consultancy to cover not only the island and neighbouring Jura but also Lochgilphead and Campbeltown. Stefanie knows and trusts the franchise through and through; she successfully lost weight as a client herself and could see how effective it was. ‘You provide advice and support to people to help them develop a healthy lifestyle. This is not one of those fad diets like some of the things out there. It is a proven method of helping people. ‘I was a Slimming World member and lost weight and I decided to train as a consultant and from there formed by own group with my own members.’ Her consultancy has worked through the Covid lockdown via social media and she has now taken over the groups in Campbeltown and Lochgilphead. These meet on Monday morning and afternoon respectively. The Islay and Jura meetings are on Tuesdays at 5pm and 7pm. Stefanie is no stranger to being self-employed; her parents were licensees of The Black Cat, one of Greenock’s oldest pubs, and she took over the licence from them. Her father still helps to co-manage the establishment and her parents have always been great supporters of her work. ‘Go for it, that’s my advice,’ said Stefanie. ‘Remember that a lot of things you will only learn by experience. You can study the theory but won’t truly learn until you have experienced it in real life. ‘Just have the confidence in yourself. You can do it.’
