News of a special literary event coming to Cairndow has attracted a great response from readers young and old.

Multi-award-winning author James Robertson will host events for children and adults as part of Scottish Book Week in November.

He will read from his new Scots language book Giraffes Cannae Dance at the event on Saturday November 20.

The author, who translated The Gruffalo into Scots, will deliver his reading in the Fyne Den in the afternoon and follow that in the evening with a reading for adults of his new novel News of the Dead.

Winner of the Saltire Society and the Scottish Arts Council Book of the Year awards, James will also host question and answer sessions and book signings.

The event is being organised by Cairndow Hall and Recreation Committee.

A spokesperson said: ‘This is quite a significant event for a small community and hopefully will lead to more events like this in the future.

‘It is a collaboration between the Scottish Book Trust and publishers and links with other work and projects being delivered by the hall committee.’

James’ new works are due to be published later this summer by Penguin.
