Cairndow housing plans are lodged
Plans have been lodged for three new houses and three new summer houses to be built in Cairndow.
Clydeview (Scotland) Ltd wants to build the new properties on land northeast of Hollybush Cottage in the village.
A statement from planning agents in support of the project has described the planned houses as ‘excellent, sustainable accommodation providing zero carbon, low impact residences’.
The plans are now available to be viewed and commented on by the public at Argyll and Bute Council’s website. A decision is expected just before Christmas.
Planning agents Architetco said in the design statement: ‘The three oneand-half-storey dwellings are designed to allow rooms within the roof and to optimize the usable floor area on a minimal footprint.
‘With reducing the footprint, this also reduces the amount of concrete and carbon intense materials being used within the development.
‘Every aspect of the house, from each stage of design, construction and through to the use and future potential has been carefully considered resulting in an efficient, warm, dry, light filled and beautifully practical building that will fit in to its local environment whilst minimising the impact on the wider environment.
‘We are taking a “fabric first” approach; with use of off-site timber cassette construction to provide a fully insulated, air-tight construction quality-controlled construction. The design is based on Passivhaus principles. The proposed scale and finishes are well represented within the neighbouring buildings.’
