Double praise for Mid Argyll Helps Ukraine volunteers
The Mid Argyll Helps Ukraine appeal has received thanks for its true commitment to helping overcome a humanitarian crisis.
Andrii Kharlanov, who heads up charity and non-governmental organisation ScotlandUkraine, sent the letter to the Lochgilphead-based appeal's co-ordinators Amanda Duffy-Brown and Nikki Thompson.
Just recently the appeal sent out its 13th lorry of aid - the latest cargo was made up mainly of hospital furniture and medical supplies.
‘We express an enormous and genuine gratitude for your outstanding contribution' Mr Kharlanov wrote.
‘A special recognition is necessary for a huge delivery of medical items and equipment which is now being used in specialised hospitals focusing on rehabilitation of armed forces. We wish good luck and prosperity to the whole community and express our hopes for further cooperation in the future,' he said.
Nikki told the Advertiser: ‘Amanda and I were overwhelmed to receive this letter of recognition from Scotland-Ukraine.
‘Our work would not be possible without the continued support of our amazing communities in Mid Argyll and surrounding areas.
‘We would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts.'
The letter from ScotlandUkraine follows a motion by Mid Argyll MSP Jenni Minto lodged in the Scottish Parliament last week.
The motion read: ‘That the parliament commends Mid Argyll Helps Ukraine for its outstanding work in delivering much needed aid to communities and families in war-torn Ukraine; understands that since its inception in March, this group have sent 14 lorries full of donations from the communities in Mid-Argyll from hospital furniture to pet food; recognises what it sees as the incredible leadership of Amanda Duffy-Brown and Nikki Thompson in facilitating this; encourages everyone who can to support its Christmas Appeal Santa Lorry, and wishes the whole community every success in the continued support for the people of the Ukraine.'
