-

2022 Mowi Awards winners were announced at a ceremony at the Highland Cinema, Cameron Square, Fort William, on Saturday November 12.

The Mowi Awards recognise the extraordinary efforts and incredible endeavour required to deliver shinty in 2022.

The awards were handed out by Jayne MacKay and Dougie Hunter from sponsors Mowi.

‘Grand slam’ winners Kingussie were the big winners as on the field, with manager John Gibson and top scorer Roddy Young winning coach and player of the year respectively.

Off the park, the club collected the Mowi award for innovation for the efforts and ideas behind the staging of September’s Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup final and The Final Fling. The William Paterson Salver for volunteer of the year went to John Robertson who is involved in so many good things at the club.

Young Glengarry defender Finlay Fraser, who represented the Scotland under 17 squad on their successful Ireland tour in the summer, captaining the side in one of the matches, was named Mowi North player of the year. From a young age, Finlay Fraser has shown great tenacity and ability, progressing through the ranks to hold his own in the senior side alongside his twin brother Cameron.

He was also named 2022 Invergarry men’s player of the year. Finlay Fraser has become a mainstay in the Invergarry defence and his grit and determination, as shown in his recent battle with Newtonmore veteran Glen MacKintosh, has showcased his skills to a wider audience.

Association Club Development Award for its hard work to ensure an exciting future of the club’s women’s team.
