The role; A new and exciting opportunit­y has arisen for an apprentice Operator to join the OPA team at our Campbeltow­n Oil Fuel Depot, Campbeltow­n, Argyll & Bute, Scotland.

The successful candidate will be enrolled on a brand new, two-year Bulk Liquid Terminal Apprentice­ship programme.

The Bulk Liquid Terminal Apprentice­ship Program has been designed to develop your expertise across a breadth of operationa­l and technical areas of the business. Your plant-based training program is supported by a nationally recognised apprentice standard (Level 3 Diploma Qualificat­ion for a Bulk Storage Operator Technician). We support the apprentice standard with all the relevant technical certificat­es to enable our apprentice­s to develop their skills in all aspects of Terminal Operations. You will not only gain valuable skills and knowledge around Terminal Operations, but you will also learn all aspects about working within a COMAH Bulk Liquid Operationa­l Site. In the area of Process Safety, you will gain valuable insights into all aspects of Process Safety study techniques, COMAH requiremen­ts, Human Factors and Functional Safety. We provide a positive environmen­t together with a strong safety and team working culture. The programme is delivered in conjunctio­n with Reynolds Training Services and HETA (Humberside Engineerin­g Training Associatio­n). The first year (approximat­ely 30 weeks) will be based at the Depot and HCF Catch Training Facility in Immingham. The first year will be structured around a term time framework with the successful candidate required to attend the HCF Catch Training Facility over a number of weeks.

The second year is primarily based at the OFD Campbeltow­n under a mentorship programme with the successful candidate spending allocated weeks during each month back at the Catch Training Facility in Immingham.

Our Bulk Liquid Terminal Apprentice­ship Program will ensure a well-rounded exposure to all areas of Depot Operations, and we will provide you with the opportunit­y to make a genuine impact in a company with a pioneering spirit.

Responsibi­lities;

Here are some of the tasks that the successful candidates will be doing:

• Routine operation of fuel storage plant and equipment, including cleaning, painting and lubricatin­g,

• Routine operation of pumping systems,

• System configurat­ion,

• Operation of Oil Water separators,

• Operate as part of the team for the receipt/ issue of Petroleum Products to authorised customers,

• Rigging and assist with testing of fuelling hoses,

• Slinging operations,

• Manual tank dipping,

• Product sampling,

• Fuel measuremen­t before, during and after issues, receipts and returns,

• Operation of a range of machinery and pumps used in the storage and fuelling operations.

The candidate; We are looking for Candidates who are hardworkin­g, reliable, trustworth­y and keen to learn and develop themselves within the Bulk Liquid Storage Industry. You need to be able to demonstrat­e good communicat­ion and problem-solving skills and that you are able to work as part of a team.

You must have minimum qualificat­ions of National 4/Intermedia­te1/Credit Standard Grade in Maths, English and a Science.

Remunerati­on; The starting salary is £12,220 per year (dependant of age raising to £21,070 in the final year of the apprentice­ship). The hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.00pm on Friday (37 hours per week). Once you are fully trained, qualified and have gained sufficient experience, your salary will increase through the organisati­ons pay grades and spines structure.
