Overnight closures on A83 at Inverneil

-

BEAR Scotland will start carrying out road surface improvements on the A83 between Lochgilphead and Campbeltown on Sunday (March 19).

The resurfacing works will take place between 7pm and 5am until the morning of Thursday March 23, around five miles south of Lochgilphead near Inverneil.

A full road closure will be implemented on the A83 due to the narrowness of the road at this location.

There will be amnesty periods provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am, with drivers encouraged to arrive prior to these times.

The road will reopen from 5am each day to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be using a temporary road surface.

BEAR Scotland north-west representative Eddie Ross said: “This resurfacing project on the A83 will repair defects and provide a smoother, safer journey for everyone using the road.

“The night time road closures are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight to allow the road to reopen during the day, as well as providing amnesty periods through the night.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these projects.

“We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-todate travel information.”
