POLICE FILES
▍ Police officers made inquiries at an address on Ardlarach Road, Ardfern, at 6.50pm on Friday May 5 and allegedly located a quantity of cannabis plants being grown in the garden. The male owner was subsequently detained under the Misuse of Drugs Act leading to further cannabis being recovered. In total 72g of cannabis was recovered and 2.6g of cannabis resin. A 53-year-old man has been charged with the offences and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
▍ Islay Police were called to assist ambulance staff with a male that was intoxicated and aggressive on Saturday May 6 in Port Ellen at 7pm. During the assistance, which ended up in Islay Hospital, it is alleged that the 29-year-old man assaulted two police officers and hospital staff, trying to strike them and spitting at them. Due to ongoing treatment the male was not arrested, prioritising his welfare. A report is being submitted to the procurator fiscal.
▍ At 3.15 pm on Saturday May 6 officers on patrol at Lochnell Street, Lochgilphead, stopped and searched a 39-year-old man under Misuse of Drugs Act powers. The man has since been charged with possession of a stanley blade and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
▍ Officers on patrol at 3.15 pm on Monday May 1, had cause to stop and search a male under Misuse of Drugs Act powers at Lochnell Street, Lochgilphead. The 23-year-old man has since been charged with possession of 1.2g of cannabis. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
▍ At 12.40 pm on Saturday May 6, at Oban Road, Lochgilphead, officers on patrol had cause to stop and search a male under Misuse of Drugs Act powers. The 26-year-old was found to be in possession of 3.6g of cannabis and was issued a recorded police warning.
▍ Officers on patrol at 3.15 pm on Saturday May 6, at Main Street, Inveraray, stopped and searched a 19-year-old male under Misuse of Drugs Act powers. He was charged and issued a recorded police warning for being in possession of 0.47g of cocaine.
