Possession

On Thursday January 18, on the A83 outside Lochgilphead, officers on patrol at 6.30pm stopped a vehicle and searched it, and the man within, under Misuse of Drugs Act powers. During the course of this search a cannabis “joint” and 11.7g of cannabis were recovered. The 53-year-old man was given a recorded police warning.

Theft

A man reportedly stole a selection of items by hiding them within a grocery bag at 6pm on Wednesday January 17, at the Tesco Express, Lochgilphead. Officers identified the 21-year-old man involved and subsequently charged him with the offence detailed. He was given a recorded police warning for the offence.

Drunk whilst in charge

At 2.45am on Thursday January 18, at Bridgend, Islay, police were called to a report of a suspected drink driver. Officers located the vehicle parked at the side of the road with the engine running. The male driver was suspected to have consumed alcohol, leading to a breath test being undertaken. The driver reportedly failed to provide a specimen of breath, leading to his arrest. Subsequently, evidential breath samples were taken at Bowmore Police Station, which were allegedly above the legal limit for alcohol in breath. A 55-year-old man has since been charged and released on an undertaking to appear in court when required.

During this past week, for the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands area, Police Scotland received two reports of domestic assault.

This has led to one man and one woman being arrested and charged to court. Police Scotland remains committed to tackling offenders of domestic abuse and reducing the level of it in our communities.
