Indoor pairs roll up at Lochgilphead bowls club
Lochgilphead Bowling Club was a hive of activity on Saturday afternoon as the first competition of the year took place with indoor pairs.
Indoor pairs are always a good challenge and this event was certainly living up to that expectation with a high level of bowls being played by five teams.
The first round saw father and son team of Craig “Ginge” and Shane Bruce play Margaret MacKinnon and Roberta Bowen which ended in a draw. Great bowls were played by all four.
The following game was won by Jamie Lang and Lynne Milne, who played very well against Colin MacInnes and
Liz Johnson.
The second round of games saw Marie Young and Ken Sylvester vs “Ginge” and Shane. This was an excellent game won by Ginge and Shane. Margaret and Roberta then took on Jamie and Lynne.
The girls did all they could but could not close the gap leading to Jamie and Lynne winning.
The third round was Marie and Ken vs Colin and Liz, who are playing very well and came away with the win. Ginge and Shane then took on Jamie and Lynne with an edge to edge game in the early stages and all four players playing extremely well – a massive shout-out to Shane, who was in excellent form in this game.
Ginge’s team managed to get a four on the second last end. Last end and Liz was sitting one.
Ginge came up with his last bowl and knocked the shot bowl out giving Ginge and Shane the victory.
“What a way to bring the games to an end,” said a spokesperson for the club. “Congratulations to Ginge and Shane on winning the shield. Massive thank you to everybody who was involved which made for a great day bowling and a great atmosphere. Special mention must go to Shane and our new members Ken and Roberta. Also a special thank you to Liz Long for keeping everyone hydrated.”
