Entries open for the 2024 Kilberry Loop Sportive
If you’re looking for a fitness challenge this summer, then now is the time to register for this year’s Kilberry Loop Sportive which will be held on Saturday August 10 .
Following the success of the 2023 event, which saw 80 cyclists take on the 40-mile ride, organisers Mid Argyll Triathlon and Cycle Club are hoping this is the first year to break the 100-entry mark.
The sportive, which is registered with British Cycling, has consistently grown since its launch in 2018 and is now an established event on the Tarbert Festivals calendar, attracting riders from across the UK.
The well-established route, which starts and ends at The Gather, Tarbert, is open to cyclists of all abilities and is the perfect first step on the road to competitive cycling. The sportive is testing but the rewards are huge, with breathtaking
Two good scores in the middle of the game meant Ginge and Shane came out with the victory.
After the break, there was a fourth round games and, with Jamie and Lynne finished their scenery from every angle.
For those riders cycling in company and making the most of the opportunity to enjoy the day, the photo opportunities are endless with the perfect view around every corner!
And for those cyclists who games and in the lead with six points, the final game between Ginge and Shane versus Colin and Liz saw both teams still in the running for winning the shield – a victory for Ginge’s team would give them the shield and a victory for Liz team would mean a shot count between Liz and Lynne’s team.
The first four ends were nip and tuck with each end being won by one shot. Liz and Colin managed to get a great three, giving them a huge advantage with two ends to play. want to challenge themselves, the route is exciting enough to get the adrenaline flowing.
Event organiser John Hardie said he was “delighted” to fire the starting pistol on the 2024 Kilberry Loop Sportive saying: “Midwinter is the perfect time to open entries for a summer event. We’re all looking for an incentive to keep our New Year Resolutions and this is a fabulous event to aim for.
“We pride ourselves on offering a fun, friendly, non-competitive cycle in company. The emphasis has always been on having a great day out.
“However, we embrace those more competitive cyclists who are using our sportive as a training run, or indeed to try to improve their own previous times.
“We are delighted that they return and support the event year after year.”
