Oban Hospice Cairdeas and Dove Centre
Life-limiting illness can have many challenges for those affected and their relatives. Oban Hospice offers help through Cairdeas Befriending and Support Service and the Dove Centre. Their valued work continues thanks to the effort and commitment of many people, including a much-appreciated team of volunteers, staff, therapists, and Oban Hospice board.
In partnership with Highland Hospice, Cairdeas offers a support service at home. Our dedicated team visits people where they live, to offer company, to make them feel part of their community again and live life to the full.
The Dove centre offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere with an opportunity for a chat and catch-up in person, in groups or over Zoom. There are weekly meetings for Coffee and Chat, the Dove Knitters and the men’s group.
The women’s group meets fortnightly over lunch. These gatherings offer the opportunity for fun and laughter as well as informative and stimulating discussion. You are always welcome to drop in.
There are also the Oban Hospice Whats App groups, which are a conduit for regular communication, social interaction, and support.
Therapy services offered at the Dove Centre are massage therapy – including specialist cancer massage, counselling, and a Listening Ear.
An Oban Hospice spokesperson said: “Our goal is to offer supportive, reliable relationships to people affected by advancing illness; helping them to cope and improve their wellbeing.” Hospice Services are dependent on the support and goodwill of the people in the Oban and Lorn area. All donations and funds raised are spent locally helping local people.
