Cocktails and cabaret

- By Rita Campbell

In the aftermath of last Saturday’s spirited cocktail and cabaret event, organised by the dynamic duo of Strachur Youth Drama and Strachur Community Theatre, the community is still buzzing with the infectious energy of the night.

The event showcased the incredible talent of the Strachur Drama senior squad and friends of the community theatre, delivering a medley of songs and dance numbers that kept the audience on their toes.

Amid the jovial atmosphere, attendees revelled in games, from coin-rolling antics to the thrilling heads or tails challenge, and a spirited competition to master Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” choreography.

Beyond the revelry, the night achieved another triumph - raising over £1000 in funds. These crucial funds will play a vital role in supporting the next venture of Strachur Youth Drama, a production of “Shrek Junior.”

There is still time for children interested in being in the production of “Shrek Junior,” being performed on Saturday September 21 and Sunday

September 22, to join in.

The cocktails and cabaret night was just one facet of the vibrant arts community fostered by Strachur Youth Drama, which boasts a remarkable 15-year legacy.

This dedicated youth group not only produces several performances annually but also hosts a summer school and provides regular training in performance arts for budding talents aged six to 16, welcoming all new-comers into a totally inclusive group.

On the broader stage, Strachur Community Theatre opens its doors to all members of the community, showcasing productions that captivate hearts and minds.

Recent hits, Wizard of Oz and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast, highlight the diverse creative palette embraced by the community.

From beginners to seasoned performers, a common thread of fun, love for theatre, and a shared passion for the creative arts unites this extraordinary collective.

In this community, the stage is not just a platform; it’s a lively tapestry woven with the threads of joy, camaraderie, and a deep-seated love for both the performing arts and the community.
