Cyclist attacked

A man was bitten on the leg by a dog while cycling along the A816, just north of the Corran roundabout in Lochgilphe­ad around 5pm on Friday April 26. The dog is described as medium-sized with black sleek fur. The dog was accompanie­d by a mane who is thought to be the owner. He was described as tall, slim build with dark hair and a foreign accent. If anybody has any informatio­n about this incident, contact police on 101 and quote incident 2881 of 26/04/24.

Possession

Police were called to a report of a man acting suspicious­ly at 12pm on Monday April 22, on the A816 near to Cairnbaan. Officers located the man involved and searched him under the Civic Government Act (looking for stolen property). During the search and subsequent checks it is alleged that the 30-year-old was found in possession of a bottle of medication, suspected to be methadone, provided false details to police and was found to be in breach of court bail conditions. The man was arrested, charged and held to present before the next court. A case has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Drug charges

Police on patrol located a single car accident on the A83 at 3pm on Thursday April 25 at Lochgair. The male driver showed signs of impairment, leading to a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act. It is alleged that 0.4g of cocaine was located. The 28-year-old was arrested and evidential blood samples taken for review of impairment. A case has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Breach of bail

On Saturday April 27, in Lochgilphe­ad town centre, police on patrol saw a male who allegedly had live bail conditions not to attend the location he was seen leaving. The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged and has been held in police custody to present before the next available court.
