Witnesses sought

At 4.50pm on Monday April 29 on the A83, near the Argyll Caravan Park, Inveraray, a silver Volvo, heading southbound, allegedly overtook vehicles and almost caused a headon collision with oncoming traffic. Police are trying to identify the car and driver involved. Dangerous driving

Police on patrol at 11.20pm on Friday May 3 noted a vehicle to allegedly be driving at excessive speed near to Lochgilphe­ad High School Joint Campus. Officers were unable to stop the vehicle but in the early hours of Saturday May 4, officers traced it to a nearby address. An 18-year-old driver was arrested and later cautioned and charged with road traffic offences including dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Assault

Two men reportedly had an altercatio­n in a licensed premises in the Inveraray area, around 12.30am on Sunday May 5, which is being investigat­ed. Threatenin­g behaviour

About 9am on Thursday May 2, a man entered Lochgilphe­ad Police Station for advice after an alleged altercatio­n with a member of the public the previous day. The 26-year-old reportedly became highly abusive to officers within the police station before making off. He was arrested a short time later. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

No insurance

Police on patrol carried out a routine traffic stop on the A819 at Inveraray at 8pm on Sunday April 28, and during a document check of the 21-year-old driver, it is alleged that there was not a valid certificat­e of insurance for the driver of the vehicle. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A vehicle was stopped by police on patrol at 12.30am on Saturday May 4, following a report of a vehicle failing to stop for other officers. The vehicle was traced on the A816 Bridgend. The occupants of the vehicle were searched and 11g of cannabis and other parapherna­lia were recovered. An 18-year-old man received a recorded police warning for possession.
