Let go and let God

Change of plans... disruption… different directions?

These are all words that can be very upsetting for some people; I would know because I am one of “those people” who find it difficult sometimes to cope with things not going to plan or as we expected.

Ever since I could remember, I loved knowing what to expect and being prepared for things and events well in advance.

I am the one who is always early for appointments and waiting on others to arrive.

However, life doesn’t always work out as we plan and we need to prepare ourselves for the unknown.

We all know that we simply cannot tell what the future holds for us so it is in these uncertain times when we don’t know what to expect that we should be reminded of the power to let go ... let go of wanting to have things under “our” control, let go of all those aspirations to be so prepared that we lose the ability to adapt to when things work out differently.

How do we let go, you might ask?

It’s easy, let go, and let God.

He is in control and we should trust in His all-knowing care for us that He is also in those moments in life that we did not or could not expect or even prepare for.

Philippians 4 says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”... and then the comforting words: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.
